He steals the ball, waving it over his head, defiantly chanting &#8220;Tinker to Evers to Chance!&#8221; as he dissolves into the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Shortstop Joe Tinker, to second baseman Johnny Evers to first baseman Frank Chance was the 1908 Cubs&#8217; deadly double-play combination, immortalized by a 1910 baseball poem by Franklin Pierce Adams.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Two Indians score on the wild pitch and fan interference.\u00a0The Cubs lose, again.
