Yet, while internationally acclaimed, her profile remains lower than Lynch\u2019s. Her 15<sup>th<\/sup> album demonstrates she\u2019s as accomplished, in her way, as the trumpeter. Arriale has dedicated herself to the jazz piano trio form, and hers draws comparisons to preeminent trios led by Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett. Arriale&#8217;s ballad &#8220;Lady Liberty&#8221; traces the mythical French patriot\u2019s footsteps as freedom&#8217;s fighter and messenger, perhaps right to the White House.<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, &#8220;Reunion&#8221; bubbles with buoyant Caribbean-style celebration, of separated family members together again. Here we feel the propulsive punch of drummer E.J Strickland, a disciple of Tyner\u2019s famous John Coltrane band mate Elvin Jones. All photos courtesy Challenge Records<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As Lynch did with &#8220;best large ensemble jazz album,&#8221; <em>The Omni-American Book Club<\/em>,\u00a0 Arriale has unleashed her full social-consciousness in her art. Duos aside, the piano trio is ostensibly the quietest of classic jazz trio combos. Nevertheless,<em> Chimes of Freedom<\/em> might be a trojan horse in the shadows, poised to storm the gates of Grammy at year&#8217;s end.<\/p>\n<p>The title song, by Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon\u2019s &#8220;American Song,&#8221; both sung by K.J.
